Can I return something to Aeropostale without tags if I have the reciept?

I bought a pair of shorts from there yesterday and I assumed that they would fit, so I took off the tags. Once I put them on though, they were too big so I don't want them anymore. I do still have the tags though, just not attached. Would they let me return or exchange them for a fitting pair without a hassle?
