Extending an Aupair Visa in Germany?

I am a Mexican Au pair in Germany and was wondering if it was possible to extend my visa for a few more months. The family agreed and I need to wait for some University answers and for that I need a few (2-3) months... or would it be possible to get a visa to some other nearby country? I am fluent in English, Spanish and my German is not bad, help!
